150 Years of London Underground Design

As the London Underground developed, its architecture and graphics reflected widely different art movements and design input. This lecture covers them and the attempts to create some graphic unity and cohesion between the styles from the early different operating companies to the latest extensions.

Mark Ovenden is a broadcaster and author who specialises in the subjects of graphic design, cartography and architecture in public transport, with an emphasis on underground rapid transit. His book London Underground by Design was published by Penguin Books in January 2013 and other works are in preparation.
